Poetry Now
Poetry is not going to liberate anyone
Anyone from work
Its not something you apply to your skin
To look radical or democratic
It is the weighty business
of deftly unloading the weight of life
into the lake of memory
Poetry contracts you
To play the instrument
That speaks your language
To keep the promise
Of telling the story you live
The knack for cutting
The line at the right end
Searching, yes searching
Searching for what
Moves people deeply
Poetry casts
inconvenient questions
At neatly laid out traps
Naming and startling the elephants in the room
Poetry is the wisdom to know
When something is simmering below
It speaks the languages of freedom
Of friends, moments, sounds
It beats technology of snooping
It is the art of drawing out
What is not right
It is the game of holding onto
Something unyielding
It is the elegance of waiting
Planning and whistling tunes
About debt and risk
Waiting for the coin of glory
To land into your account
