The heat we suffer
is in the tears of babies
the stifled cries of children
Whose future is snatched
By grubby fingers
Of those who can’t think
Beyond their appetite
The heat we all curse
Is aggravated
Voodoo economies
And upside-down policies
Of those who refuse
To think beyond today
The heat, this heat
Is fed by land grabbing
Treasury-raiding looters
Who cook up nightmares
In boardroom and light up
Smokescreens at costly platforms
The heat
We all complain about
Is the fire of greed
The furnace of recklessness
The heat we all complain about
Is turned on and on
By those who launder
Our aspirations and sell our sweat
For trinkets
