How do I hold fast

to a speeding dream

ultra-fast and zigzagging

a dreams that darts

across vast spaces

How, tell me,

do I hold fast to

a silky cloud, mere vapour

a passing gust of wind

How do I hold fast

to fleeting moments of wonder

where do I get the nerve

to follow this dream

of assorted hues

a dream that calls forth

deep reserves

muscles and guts

and more nerve

How do I enact this dream

that demands focus

fortified by grit

A dream that demands

wide open eyes

a dream that makes

you spring to your feet

a dream of lion-hearted hopes

a dream of vast vistas

huge canvases

a dream of slopes steep

vertical inclines

a dream that secretes

warmth unimaginable

a dreams of ghosts parading

in daylight

in swanky shopping complexes

How do I hold fast to a dream

that drips with blood of souls

sullied by power deranged

Minds of promise that melt

in the heat of wanton hypocrisy

and greed on steroids.

How do I hold fast to the dream

you are so keen to sell to me

a hollow waft of air

How do I hold fast to a dream

that weakens my sisters and brothers

a dream that digs early graves

for fathers and creates eternal headaches

for mothers

A dreams that rumbles

like a starving belly

How do I hold fast to a dream

that attracts lizards, jackals

and beasts in their variety

A dream that oozes pollution

A dream that putrid enough

to cut-short the slumber

of tight sleepers and loquacious sleep-walkers

A dream that promises to protect

and goes on to maim

and stun and putrefy

everything it touches

How do I hold fast, sister

How do I hold fast, brother

to this pale dream?
